A mind trained in the sciences gravitates to the right and wrong, the black and white, the horizontals and verticals of the world. Jenny Bush extends this to the orderliness of the built environment that she appreciates around her. As modern developments encroach, her work celebrates the intricate and non-functional beauty incorporated into older buildings, seen both at home and overseas as she travels.
Jenny Bush studied Pharmacy at the Victorian College of Pharmacy, then worked in all areas of hospital pharmacy before switching to sheep farmer, community volunteer worker, mother and glass artist. Her interest in the transparency and colours of glass never faded after a lead-lighting course. She commenced a short glass fusing and slumping course at Melbourne’s CAE and hasn’t been able to stop since. She has completed many terms at Melbourne's Blue Dog Glass as well as master classes and workshops with visiting international teachers. The precision afforded with screen printing and glass powders is now her preferred technique. She has been highly commended for works entered into the Mansfield MAGE and Drysdale Festival of Glass exhibitions.
