My work involves memories of place – place as an interaction of landscape, geography, familiarity and the experience of belonging. In addition to the primary visual impact of landscape: mental snapshots of patterns and interruptions of patterns; the way people move through spaces and connect to places; places defined as definitions of the relationship between an individual, their experiences, their connection to others; and fear of the gaps between places. The use of kiln formed glass as a medium allows me to manipulate light and space, creating optical illusions and spaces within works which reflects my interest in the concept of place.
